Physical Therapy
“Physiotherapy is the primary health care profession that promotes wellness, mobility, and independent function. Physiotherapists have advanced understanding of how the body moves, what keeps it from moving well, and how to restore mobility.” -The Canadian Physiotherapy Association
Physical therapy intervention can treat a wide range of conditions. At North York Acupuncture & Physiotherapy, we believe in finding the root cause of your condition and using a combination of exercise, acupuncture, education about your injury to help you get better. During your initial visit, your physical therapist will do a thorough assessment of your condition and start the treatment on that day. Our goal is to create a treatment plan that will give you long term solutions so you can stay healthy and pain-free.
Our unique treatment approach consists of three parts:
- Acupuncture - Our physiotherapist, Amy Chen, specializes in using acupuncture to release your trigger points and tight muscles. Acupuncture opens up the contracted muscle, increases blood and oxygen to the tissue, and restores length and function to the muscle. It is a painless technique that provides immense pain-relief.
- Home exercise program - To maintain the benefits gained after receiving acupuncture, it is important to do a regular home exercise program that consists of stretches and strengthening exercises.
- Education - We believe that the more you understand about your injury, the faster your recovery will be.
